Participation Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with FruitSave. We look forward to meeting you! In order for our gleans to run as smoothly as possible, we ask that you observe the following guidelines.
- Our mission is to recover fresh fruit in order to reduce waste, improve health, and provide reliable access to nutritious food for our neighbours in need. Please behave in a way that is consistent with that mission while volunteering with us.
- If you find you are unable to attend, after signing up for a glean, please cancel your roster spot. This helps us make sure we have a full crew of volunteers for the glean in question.
- All gleaners, including spouses friends and family members you bring to the glean, must be registered.
- If your registration stated that you are bringing minors/children to the glean, remember that you are fully responsible for them while they are on the property.
- Please be punctual. Unless a prior safety training session was held, a safety training and orientation will be given by the glean leader at the start of the event and we don't want you to miss anything.
- For everyone's safety our events are smoke and alcohol free.
- Many of the trees we glean are on private property, typically in gardens. The owner or resident has granted us permission to enter to pick fruit. Please be respectful of the fact that this is someone's home.
- Please listen to, and follow, the safety training and orientation given by the glean leader.
- The glean leader has been trained to supervise the event to make sure volunteers have a productive and enjoyable time. Please follow her/his directions.
Thank you for volunteering with us!
